4,020 Graduands conferred with Degrees and Diplomas during the second day of Amity University 10th Convocation 2014

 The second day of 10th Convocation 2014 of Amity University was held at Amity Campus, Sector, 125, Noida wherein over 4,020 Graduands from Amity School of Communication, Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity Institute of Social Sciences, Amity School of Hospitality, Amity School of Languages, Amity Law School and other Institutes received their Degrees and Diplomas.

During the day, over 215 meritorious Graduands were honored with Awards. 83 graduands received Gold Medals, 79 graduands received Silver Medals, while, 36 were awarded Bronze Medals.

The grandeur Convocation ceremony commenced with the Procession comprising of Trustees of the Board, Senior Members of the Management, Head of the Institutions, Departmental Heads and Senior Faculty members, who were led by the band of pipers.

Dr. Balvinder Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh welcomed the august gathering, and presented a brief report of the University. Dr. Shukla congratulated the graduands and wished them luck in their future endeavors.

Sharing his views during the momentous occasion, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group addressed Amity alumni as Amity’s Amazing Achievers and stressed that Amity alumni are empowered to change the country and the world. He remarked that Amity alumni are equipped with rich Indian culture and ethos which would help them to achieve anything in their lives. Dr. Chauhan, who himself believes in “Success by Compulsion”, called upon the Alumni to have an urge to achieve something in life, forge ahead with strong conviction, self confidence and faith in God, without getting perturbed by deterrents. He advised the students to follow the mantra of “BHAAG” where, B stands for Behavioral Science, H stands for Hard work, A stands for Ambition, A stands for Attitude and G stands for God.  He added that a person can reach pinnacle of success by following the Bhaag Mantra.

During the convocation, Ms. Shobhana Bhartia,  Chairperson & Editorial Director of Hindustan Times was conferred with Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy for her strategic vision and direction in pursuit of excellence and dedication to the humanity in general.

On the occasion, Advocate  Raian Karanjawala, Founder & Managing Partner Karanjawala & Company was conferred with Honorary Doctorate in Law (LLD) for his untiring efforts & immense contribution towards the development and maturing of legal systems which has enhanced the image of India globally. 

During his acceptance speech, Advocate Raian Karanjawala said, “I am honored to accept the Honorary Doctorate Degree bestowed upon by Amity University.” Talking about the changes occurred in the profession of Law, Advocate Karanjawal said that he has witnessed a transformation of the profession with the passing years; initially profession of law was about practice of going to court and conducting arguments in the court but today, the practice of law has expanded profusely and exponentially. He further added that presently in India, there are almost 30 different super specialties for a budding lawyer to practice in and the recompenses are increased drastically. Advocate Karanjawal appreciated Supreme Court of India for its activist role in shaping the profession of law. He appreciated that the students of Amity have ‘Can Do’ attitude inculcated in them and strive to achieve success in their lives.

Dr. Ratan Kumar Sinha, Chairman Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India  was conferred with Honorary Doctorate in Science for his commitment, determination and a lifelong devotion to science.

Accepting his Honorary Doctorate, Dr. Ratan Kumar Sinha expressed his gratitude for the honor conferred upon him.  He emphasized the need for improvement in research studies in India. He urged to fill up the gaps and lacunas in the present education system. Dr Kumar asked students to always be prepared to face challenges at every step of life. He congratulated all graduands and urged them to never forget their responsibilities towards the society and the country as a whole. He commended Amity for imbibing the culture of research and innovation in its students and faculty members.

During the convocation, Scientist R K Kotnala was conferred Honorary Professorship in Amity School of Biotechnology.

During the second day of Convocation, a virtual Convocation was conducted for students from 28 Countries during which 781 students were awarded with Degrees, in addition to individual Medals & Awards.

During the third day of Convocation, a total of 3,286 successfully qualified Graduands of several Programs will receive UG and PG Degrees, Diplomas, Trophies and Medals respectively.

Dr. R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and Shri. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, Delhi Metro will be conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
