Role of Technology and Networking in New Age Enterprises

A session on ‘Role of Technology and Networking in New Age Enterprises’ was conducted by Ms. Smriti Bhatia - Author & Founder - Smriti's International Academy of Bakery Arts, Choco House. She stated that technology plays an important role in networking for the organization to grow up ladder and make yourself most visible. Networking is a very crucial step in both personal and professional life because it is all about relationship building. The better you network, better you achieve in any phase of life. It is an investment that you make in life in any sphere. A good networker must be a good listener and need to sustain relationships to maintain the contacts very well.

She suggested students to structure their agenda well when going for any networking platform. Every point should be clear in your mind whenever you are going for an event or meeting. She stated that the combination of one’s attitude and body language is very important and one should always go and meet people in an event or meeting. She asked students to get out from their comfort zone as when people see someone active, energetic, and moving around then it brings lots of credibility about them. Networking is like the law of Karma; more you talk to people more you build network and people will talk to you.

She shared that every opportunity to meet people, any platform that can benefit in term of networking then one should utilize it. There is thin line between just being with people you know versus being with them and making sure that you dilute the objective of networking meetings, so maintain the balance for both. When talking to people, some interactions might not be pleasant so don't break connections due to such situations. It is important to build trust and credibility with networking however building mentor network can be useful too. When you have mentor network you can discuss all your challenge, experience, and advise.

She advised to connect people by understanding their needs and to always follow indirect selling. If your product is easy to carry you should take your product to the meeting or event. By showing or offering your product during the meeting will give them more detailed idea and knowledge about your product which people will remember for long. They will better understand your work. Also, giveaway will connect you better. Make sure you follow up after your event is over and you can drop them message or call them sometime. Casual meetings will be better way to follow up, shared the speaker.
