Amity Celebrates 7th International Yoga Day

 To educate students, faculty and staff about the importance of Yoga for good physical and mental health, Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine organized six day online workshop on the theme, "Yoga and Mindfulness: Innovative Strategies and Practices". During the workshop, eminent yoga instructor Ms. Neha Jaineshared practical information on various asanas and pranayamas of yoga. A lecture on the topic “Yoga for Sustainable Healthy Lifestyle” was delivered also  by Avadhuta H. H. Jagat Guru Dileepji Maharaj, Global Chairman and CEO, World Yoga Community to United Nations. 

 

While delivering the lecture on Yoga for a sustainable healthy lifestyle,  Avadhuta H. H. Jagat Guru Dileepji Maharaj stated Yoga has been a part of the ancient tradition of our country and people used to use yoga continuously for physical and mental wellness. Yoga is very important for a sustainable healthy lifestyle and regular yoga can keep you mentally and physically healthy. He further added that it is necessary to remain positive in every moment of life. India has shared its knowledge of Yoga with the whole world and thus the aim of the World Yoga Community is to provide genuine information about the methods and benefits of yoga to people. India  believes in every form of yoga.

Dr. W Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation said Amity has always understood the importance of India's tradition, therapeutic system, and yoga with modern science and made students aware to adopt it. He said that we motivate the students for research and innovation so that the traditional knowledge of India can be presented on a scientific basis and people can get the benefit out of it. 

During the practice session of yoga, Ms. Neha Jaineprovided detailed information about the right technique of doing Bhujangasana, Padmasana, Vajrasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Chakrasana, Matsyasana, Shalabhasan, Trikonasana, etc., Along with the practical knowledge she also talked about various precautions to be taken while doing the yoga
