Amity Institute of International Studies (AIIS) in collaboration with Amity Staff College commenced with one-week Faculty Development Programme from 01st July 2019 to 05 July 2019 on the theme - The relevance of Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain, Digitization in Social Science and Contemporary International Relations: Issues and Concerns at Amity University, Noida Campus.
Professor Zahid Shabab Ahmed, Deakin University, Australia, as a Virtual Speaker, spoke about the impact of China’s Belt and Road on India Pakistan relations. He explained that although China’s One Belt-One Road (OBOR) initiative has been supported by several countries across Asia, the initiative is acting in contravention against the relationship of India and Pakistan. China is proving its dominance in the region by this initiative and Pakistan is using the situation for its benefit by getting as much political and economic support from China as possible.
Mr. Feroz Khan Associate Director, Boston Consulting Group, gave his inputs on the topic of Digital transformation and IR. He apprised that the rapid growth and development that the world is experiencing right now will propel it in a new era which would primarily be driven by technology.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. Yoga Jyotsana, Head, Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies stated that the world is moving towards integrating technology and the exponential growth that has been made in the field of AI has started touching almost every sphere of our lives. “Even the academia has widely been influenced with the advancements in the field of technology. However, the Indian academia is slow in upgrading to the newer methods of education system and we as the representatives of the academia need to ensure the facilitation and catalyzation of the process of its upgradation.
Professor S.S Bindra, Director, AIIS apprised about the trends in International relations. He briefly explained about the socio-economic state of the world starting from The First World War till the Contemporary Scenario. He said that as of today The US and China hold a very strong position in terms of trade and development, although their stances might not concur with each other.
