Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine (AIISM) organized a National Seminar “ANTAH MANTHAN” on Clinical aspects of Endocrinology in Ayurved along with Vishwa Ayurved Parishad (VAP) at Amity University Uttar Pradesh. Along with deliberations focusing on the promoting Indian medicine and also the philosophy, knowledge and science of Ayurveda, an AYUSH-Amity clinic was also inaugurated by the gathering.
Calling Ayurved as science and art of life, Chief Guest Prof. K. S. Dhiman, Director, CCRAS, Government of India, New Delhi shared with the students and the gathering how science and medicine today might think of Ayurved as alternate treatment, but it had been the primary form of treatment 5,000 years ago. “It is this thought of putting Ayurved in the alternate treatment category that is stopping the country from becoming a global power in the field of medicine. We will have to get rid of these old beliefs and work to develop effective, sustainable and quick outcomes,” shared Prof. Dhiman while congratulating Amity University on their initiatives to promote Ayurved and also suggested introduction of a B.Sc. course in Ayurved Biology in the future to nurture better researchers.
Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Director, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur and also the Guest of Honor, averred on how promotion of Ayurved was not only the responsibility of AYUSH, but also of other organizations and education institutions. “It is our moral duty to keep ourselves and the society healthy. Only then we will be able to develop onto a healthy nation. We should take a commitment of not allowing our country to become the capital of diabetes, as recent reports and researches have indicated towards this trend,” said Prof. Sharma.
Prof. P. K. Prajapati, Former Dean, All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi shared how lifestyle disorders today bring a lot of changes in our body. “We should take care of ourselves by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Amity University has taken the best step to propagate and preserve the science of Ayruved. We should focus more on getting good results in this field and maintain use ayurved to maintain normal physiology of the body,” shared Prof. Prajapti.
Dr. W. Selvamurthy, DG, ADSI & President ASTIF gave a detailed insight on the various research initiatives being undertaken in the field of herbal medicine at Amity University. “The deliberations in the seminar will help us formulate a roadmap on thrust areas on which Ayurved should focus upon and also help us gather the synergy and draft the strategy to implement this roadmap,” said Dr. Selvamurthy.
