Amity University celebrates India Tourism Day

Amity Institute of Travel & Tourism, Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, celebrated India Tourism Day on the occasion of India Tourism Day, celebrated on January 25 every year across the country. India Tourism Day was established by the Indian Government to raise awareness about the importance of Tourism in the economic growth of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Major S.K. Yadav, Director, Wanderlust, stated, “Today, apart from in-bound tourism and out bound tourism, there are also opportunities for domestic tourism, cap and adventure tourism. In the tourism industry you have to work with patience and gain the trust of the customers.” He advised the students to think differently from what everyone thinks. “Do not be a part of the crowd, India is a land of diversity and there are a huge number of opportunities in the Tourism Sector today. One should understand and look for opportunities in new tourist destinations and work as per the requirement of tourists. The pandemic has adversely affected the tourism industry but still domestic tourism continues to grow as more people are travelling within the country rather than visiting places abroad. Use of traditional and social media is keeping the travelers well informed about different places and they have specific preferences when it comes to travelling. Despite the challenges thrown by the Pandemic, Tourism industry continues to thrive and grow in our country and the sector offers a huge scope and diverse career prospects for tourism students.”

Welcoming the guest, students and faculty on this occasion, Dr. M. Sajnani, Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Amity University, said, “The importance of tourism has always been stressed upon by our Honourable Prime Minister. India is an ancient civilization where there is a glimpse of multiculturalism with diversities. India is the first choice of tourists as it has a rich cultural heritage and offers exotic places and locations. Tourism industry contributes significantly to our country’s economy therefore we need to grow the industry and this further reinforces the importance of celebrating India Tourism Day.”

During the event, a video, “Dekho Apna Desh” was also played which captured glimpses of various cultural and traditional activities performed across various regions of India along with a session on “Virtual Walk”.
