Noida Police conducts Awareness Programme on the “Ill Effects of Substance Consumption” at Amity University

Noida Police organised an “Address to the Students” on the ‘Ill Effects of Substance Consumption’ at Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, to spread awareness about the impact of drug abuse. In addition, a Nukkad Natak by the NGO, “Ashaayen Ek Umeed”, associated with Delhi Police for such activities, was also performed at Amity University.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ranvijay Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, averred, “I have personally witnessed many instances of drug abuse and have seen very closely how drugs lead to a person’s decline, in every aspect. People who consume drugs go through a very tough time and once they are addicted, it is very difficult for them to leave it. Even Drug De-addiction Centers are not able to help them and it takes a long time for them to come out of it. We wanted the NGO, “Ashaayein Ek Umeed” to join hands in our endeavour  and organize a “Nukkad Natak”, which would help in spreading awareness about the ill-effects of drug abuse, in an interesting way. As responsible citizens of our country, we will make sure that no one is spared if found indulging in substance abuse. No matter how influential or high profile they may be but if the Police comes to know of any such instances, the persons involved will have to face serious consequences. We have deployed special teams in different parts of Noida to make sure that no such incidents occur.” Speaking about Amity, he further elaborated, “I have seen how Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, takes a keen interest in the life of every student and I have seen the love and affection of Amity members, for each and every student of Amity. Therefore, I will personally make sure that such incidents never occur in this area and our students remain safe and secure, as law abiding citizens of the country.” He urged the students to stay away from this habit and advised them to focus on their health and career.

During the Opening Address by Prof (Dr) Marshal Sahni, Dean Students’ Welfare and Member Secretary Anti-narcotics Committee, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, he stated, “We, at Amity, are highly concerned for the safety and well-being of our students. Each one of our students is precious for us and therefore, it is our responsibility to make sure that our students stay away from narcotics and other drug substances. Youth is a golden period of one’s life and therefore they should not destroy it by falling into the trap of drug consumption. The youth of our country should be physically and mentally fit and healthy so that they remain productive and can work constantly for the nation.”

Delivering the Welcome Address, Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, Chairperson, Anti-narcotics Committee, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Drug abuse has become very common these days, specially amongst the students. Therefore, I urge the students of Amity to never indulge in drug abuse as it will not only be detrimental to their future but will also bring disgrace to their family, institution and country. We will support every child in this endeavour and will leave no stone unturned in making sure that each one of our students stays away from drugs. Youth is the future of our country therefore they must behave and act responsibly and make their parents and teachers proud by achieving success in their endeavours, both personally and professionally.”

To highlight the impact of Drug and Substance abuse, an interesting Nukkad Natak by the Volunteers of NGO, “Asahayen Ek Umeed”, was also presented where the members of the NGO showcased their immense talent and creativity and by delivering a spectacular performance which was highly engaging and inspirational for the students. The students of Amity also pledged to never indulge in such activities and discourage others as well.  The event was attended by the students, faculty and staff of Amity in large numbers.
