The workshop aimed to develop an understanding of the key concept and principles of design thinking, develop a basic knowledge of the design thinking process and methods and tools in creative problem solving and to help in understanding the mindset of a design thinker.

Speaking about the various aspects and benefits of Design Thinking, Dr. Sanjay Verma, Consultant, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), said, “Design Thinking revolves around a deep interest in developing an understanding of the people for whom we are designing the products or services. It is a systematic process of thinking which empowers even the most traditional thinker to develop new, innovative solutions to the problem at hand. The world’s most innovative companies have been successful because of the power of thinking creatively as it allows new perspective/creative solutions, expands entire team’s knowledge base, breaks a transforming pattern called ingrained thinking. Thinking creatively helps in developing the skills in applying design thinking mindsets, methodology and tools in co-creating an improved customer experience journey. It allows new perspective and creative solutions by addressing the root problems. It helps in breaking a common brainstorming pattern called ingrained thinking.”

Speaking about innovation, he further added, “Innovation creates difference to a product or service. Good design is good business and creates a strong first impression and helps your business stand out. Apart from this, it also builds trust and credibility and customer relationship. A customer is only interested in a product or a service if it is unique in some way and useful for them. Design Thinking helps us in redefining the values, coping with rapid social or market changes, solving issues related to corporate culture and new technology, enhancing user experience and many other problems.”

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session where the queries of the participants were answered by Dr. Sanjay Verma and the workshop was attended by the students and faculty members of Amity, in large numbers.
