Uttar Pradesh Team lifts “All India Karate Championship-2022” Trophy World’s largest 21ft high Trophy placed at Amity campus, to be entered in Limca Book of World Records

 

Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized the “All India Karate Championship-2022”, in collaboration with Karate Welfare Society at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus on 28th August 2022. The Championship Trophy was won by Uttar Pradesh Team, followed by Delhi Team as the First Runners Up and Bihar Team as the Second Runners Up.

 

The highlight of the Championship is a massive, 21ft high Trophy which is the world’s biggest Trophy and is placed at Amity University Noida campus, itself, as a souvenir of the Championship. This historic trophy, which is composed of iron, brass and aluminium, will be entered in the Asian and Limca Book of World Records.

More than 500 (female and male) players from various states participated in this Championship along with 300 coaches and international referees through their District & State Associations, from different states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand. The competitions were conducted in the age groups from Under 7 to Under 18 Boys & Girls, under various weight categories.

 

Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, who has also been bestowed upon the “Award of Shodan” (Black Belt) by World Chief Soshi Isamu Kamagata, Seigo-Kai-Karate-do-Japan, in the year 2013, for encouraging and promoting Karate in Amity International Schools, cheered the participants who had come from all over India and encouraged them to be focussed and dedicated to the game to achieve excellence. 

Addressing the gathering during the Inaugural Ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “It is a special privilege of Amity to host this championship at its campus where participants from all across the country have participated in large numbers. Academic excellence at Amity is backed by an extraordinary performance in sports and Amity students have achieved laurels at national as well as international level in various sports events. Winning or losing is a part of every game but participation is the most important aspect of a competition. One can learn from their failures therefore, participants should not be disheartened if they lose. Sports is one of the best mediums of cultural exchange between two countries and it is therefore important to keep organizing such events.” Citing the example of two black belt holders in Karate, Mr. Amol Chauhan and Mr. Abhay Chauhan, Senior Management Members of the Amity Education Group, she called upon the participants to reach greater heights not only in sports but in their career, as well.

Expressing pleasure on organizing the Championship, All India Karate Championship by Organizing Secretary Mr. Rajeev Mundelwal, General Secretary, Karate Welfare Society, said, “It is for the first time in the history that such a massive trophy has been presented to an institution for organizing a Sport event and Karate Welfare Society is proud to organize the Karate Championship at Amity campus  as Amity is one of the best institutions which gives equal importance to education as well as sports and focusses on the overall development of its students.”

Encouraging the participants, Mr. Pramod Kumar, Patron, Karate Welfare Society, said, “Sports provide an opportunity for enhancing the multi-skilling and multi-tasking abilities of a person. Every defeat is a stepping stone to victory, therefore it is important to give it your best shot and focus on the performance, without focussing on the outcome.”

The Vote of Thanks, during the Inaugural Ceremony, was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Jogiswar Goswami, Officiating Head, Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
