Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine (AIISM) with Amity Institute of Training & Development is organized a 5-Day DST Sponsored Training Program on “Traditional Medicine-Modern Approaches for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare” from 05 Sep 2022 to 09 Sep 2022 through virtual mode. 31 participants from Government sectors participated in this DST Sponsored Training Program.
Dr. Vinamra Sharma, Assistant Professor-III & Leader, Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine delivered the welcome address for Chief Guest Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Chancellor, S-VYASA, Bengaluru, India.
During his address, Chief Guest Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Chancellor, S-VYASA, Bengaluru, Dr. H.R. Nagendra very well described Traditional Medicines and its Modern Approaches. As S-Vyasa and Amity University have already signed an MoU, Dr. H.R. Nagendra expressed his happiness that both the institutions can work together collaboratively and embark on a mutually beneficial, symbiotic relationship.

An insightful talk on Traditional medicine: Modern approach to Holistic Health to Ayurveda system was given by Dr. B.S. Prasad, President, Board of Ayurved, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. During his address, Dr. B.S. Prasad put light on Macro and Micro Cosmos, Panchmahabuts, Human Body Composition, Panchkarmas, Bala-Sahaja, Kaaloja, Yuktikoita, Pharmacological Actions, Rasayana, Designer Boday, Relative Measurement, etc. He also emphasized that if Ayurveda doctors will practice as per the protocols then there will be no need of any other medicine. During the programme, an interactive Q&A session was also held where questions of the participants were answered by Dr. B.S. Prasad.
Apart from the above, an informative talk on Use of Molecular Medicine in the Practice of Traditional Medicine to Phytopharmaceuticals was held by
Dr. V. Kalaiselvan, Senior Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad. During his talk, Dr. V. Kalaiselvan put enough light on use of Molecular Medicine which was well appreciated by all the participants.
A Panel Discussion on Ayurveda Medication: the way forward was also organized during which Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Deputy Medical Commissioner (Ayush), Advisor In charge Ayush, ESIC, Ministry of Labour and Employment, GoI, New Delhi, Dr. Kirti Soni, Head of Formulation Division, Dabur Research Foundation, Sahibabad and Dr. Vinamra Sharma exchanged their views on Traditional Medicines. The Panel discussion was very interactive and full of learning for participants.
Certificates of Appreciation were presented online to the Invited Guests/Speakers and Dr. Garima Jaiswal, Assistant Professor-I at Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine, delivered the Vote of Thanks address.
