Amity University Uttar Pradesh signed an MoU with The Indian Navy, to establish a long-term symbiotic relationship for Academic Cooperation. This is a welfare measure for Naval Defence Forces to enhance their educational qualifications, thereby improving the prospects for ‘in service’ appropriate nautical assignments and better placements on superannuation from Indian Navy.
The MoU was signed to establish academic linkages between the Indian Navy and Amity University. As per the provisions of the MoU, Amity University will conduct customized courses for the Indian Navy in niche domains such as 5G Technology and IoT, Control System Integration, AI, Blockchain, Machine Learning, Cryptology, Data Science, biG Data Analysis, Digital Marketing, Computer Networks, Anti Drone Warfare, Cyber warfare Security, Automation, Surveillance, and Tracking etc. These endeavors will also contribute towards grooming ‘Scholar Warriors’ who can think better and adopt to the future challenges of conflict in all domains.
Addressing the gathering during the MoU Signing Ceremony, Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, Chief of Personnel (COP), Integrated HQ of MoD (Indian Navy), “The MoU is of great significance as it will mark the beginning of a strategic partnership with Amity, which is a leading educational institution of India, with a strong focus on research and innovation. The MoU will be highly beneficial for the Navy personnel to enhance their skills and growth, both personally and professionally. This is an opportunity by which Naval Engagement with Amity will be fostered as learning is a continuous process and one should never stop learning and grab every opportunity to learn, at each and every stage of life.”
Advising the students of Amity, he further added, “Students and Gen Z are the future leaders and decision makers, on whose shoulders the responsibility of leading the country lies. We are celebrating the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and it is the students who will decide the growth trajectory and pave the way forward for the development of India in the next 25 years. Today, there are endless possibilities, when the geo-political scenario, the armed forces and technology are in a state of flux, therefore it is a challenge for the younger generation to streamline and put things back on the right track. Our Prime Minister has advised students to imbibe self-confidence, self-awareness and selflessness which are the key attributes for becoming successful both personally and professionally. The social and financial status does not define anyone, it is about how one can become better and work on their strengths and weaknesses. “Adapt” and “adopt” are the buzzwords which will bring a transformation from the industrial age to the information age.”
Welcoming the Guests, Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), Director General, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS), said, “Amity University and The Navy recognize the online education imperative to work closely to collaborate in Academics in areas of mutual interest in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, and Social Sciences. It will further leverage the educational background, provide enriching experience and enlightenment on core competencies of naval personnel through various online courses and programmes at Amity University, Uttar Pradesh (AUUP). The goal of this academic and research cooperation between the Navy and Amity University is to foster, promote and facilitate Exchange of information on educational programmes run by Amity University as part of its On-Campus and Off-Campus (online) programmes, Sponsoring of Naval personnel to undergo on-campus and off-campus (online) educational programmes.”
Highlighting the significance of the MoU, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Vice President, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, stated, “This is a historical day for Amity as it marks the beginning of a very prestigious and symbiotic strategic partnership with the Indian navy, which has been serving the nation tirelessly. Navy is a highly technical field and collaborates with scientists for ship-building and other technological advancement. The partnership will help in capacity-building, grooming and nurturing the skills and enhancing the knowledge of Navy personnel.”
On this occasion, Prof Abhinash Kumar, Director, Amity Directorate of Distance and Online Education (ADDOE), made a presentation on Amity University Online and proposed the online courses suitable for Navy Personnel and the Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Aparaajita Pandey, Assistant Professor, AIDSS.
