Prof. (Dr.) Virinder S. Parmar, Faculty in Nanoscience, CUNY Graduate Center and in Chemistry, Lehman College & Medgar Evers College, The City University of New York (CUNY, USA), was conferred with Honorary Professorship by Amity University Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Parmar visited Amity University along with Prof. Dr. Christophe Len, Chimie ParisTech, PSL University, CNRS, Institute of Chemistry for Life and Health Sciences visited Amity University, from 7th to 10th October 2022.
Prof. Parmar has initiated a Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) between Amity University and The City University of New York (CUNY, USA) under which he will be selecting two students from Amity Institute of Click Chemistry Research and Studies (AICCRS) for doing part of their Ph.D Research at CUNY. Prof. Parmar has diverse experience in research areas such as Bioorganic Chemistry, Biocatalysis, Nanotechnology, Advanced Polymeric Materials, Medicinal Chemistry, Green Chemistry, etc. in collaboration with 26 research groups in 15 countries across the Globe which has resulted in 510+ Research Papers published in journals of high repute. Prof. Parmar has continued to contribute towards enriching the scientific community post his retirement from Delhi University where he was instrumental in establishing the Department of Chemistry.
During his acceptance speech, Prof. (Dr.) Virinder S. Parmar, Faculty in Nanoscience, CUNY Graduate Center and in Chemistry, Lehman College & Medgar Evers College, The City University of New York (CUNY, USA, stated, “It is a matter of great honor, pride and privilege for me that this Honorary Professorship has been conferred upon me by a prestigious institution like Amity. Amity is a leading research and innovation driven University and I’m certain that the students of Amity will make a mark in the field of science and technology through their extraordinary research work, knowledge and skills. It will be an honor for me to share my knowledge, experience and domain expertise with the students of Amity and I would be glad to offer my guidance and assistance at each and every step.”

During the 4-day visit, Prof. Parmar will be delivering insightful lectures on various topics including, “Greener Strategies in the Synthesis of Biologically and Industrially useful Compounds”, “Natural Products inspired Discovery and Development of Novel Anti-inflammatory, Antihypertensive and Antimicrobial Drugs" and “Synthesis of Novel Polymeric Nanomaterials useful as Drug Delivery Agents, Flame Retardants and Poly Antioxidants". A lecture on “Flow Chemistry: A safe and bright future for a sustainable world” by Prof. (Dr) Christophe LEN was also delivered as a part of the visit. During their Campus Familiarization Tour, the delegation visited the high-tech labs of Amity and the Amity Innovation Incubator (AII).
