Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized “Deeksharambh”, a seven-day Orientation Programme for First Year UG & Integrated Programme students, wherein over 7, 000 freshers have enrolled in various domains, in Noida, Greater Noida and Lucknow campus.
Motivating the students through her powerful address, Ms. Laxmi Singh, Police Commissioner, Gautam Buddh Nagar, stated, “I derive a lot of positivity from educational institutions and the students and today I am here to talk about the life values and the path that the students should choose. When we talk about freedom, no person is free in this world simply because we are born as human beings, and we have certain responsibilities in life. However, freedom can be attained through discipline since discipline makes your mind free and when the mind is uncluttered, you can think clearly. One must have the inner conviction to prove that your choice is rational and the will to succeed comes from discipline.”
Speaking about use of Social Media by the youth, she said, “Today, the young generation is exhibiting everything on social media and ethics have taken a backseat. However, if social media is utilized for exhibiting our potential, skills and achievements, then it serves a meaningful purpose.”
Encouraging the students, she opined, “Success which is achieved at the blink of the eyes is not sustainable therefore, taking small steps consistently is important. In addition, one must discipline their thoughts and be the source of positive energy to others.” She advised the students to leave an everlasting legacy behind, where people remember them after they are gone.”
She called upon the students to be selfish for themselves and always keep growing by keeping alive the hunger to learn, which is extremely crucial in order to become successful. She also advised them never to take no for an answer and become a harbinger of hope since there is nothing that a human being cannot achieve.
Responding to a query regarding failure by a student during the Q&A Session, Ms. Laxmi Singh stated, “When you fail and cannot arrive at the solution of a problem, you need to reboot, rewind and restart. Be a “Thinking Man” because when you start thinking again with a fresh mind and perspective, you will definitely find a solution to your problem.”
