Shri Rajeeva, Executive Director, Punjab & Sindh Bank felicitated by Prof (Dr)Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor - Amity

Punjab & Sind Bank, in collaboration with Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus, has launched the “PSB Hackathon Series 2026 – Suraksha Manthan” for students of Amity University. The initiative focusses on developing the concept of a Secure Wealth Twin”—intelligent wealth growth backed by built-in fraud protection, an AI-powered digital wealth intelligence system that acts as a virtual financial twin of a customer or business, while embedding a mandatory, lightweight cyber-security and fraud protection layer around all critical wealth-related actions. More than 400 engineering students from Amity University are participating in the hackathon and will develop their applications over a period of four months.

Inaugurating the Hackathon, Mr. Rajeeva, Executive Director, Punjab & Sind Bank stated that while the digital revolution has opened new opportunities, it has also brought challenges such as cybercrime, OTP fraud, hacking, phishing, and smishing in the banking and financial sectors. He emphasized that banking systems are built on trust, and this hackathon provides a platform for participants to design and develop technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh highlighted that digitization has strengthened the financial system. She noted that the hackathon will encourage innovation among students while generating solutions to combat cybercrime and financial fraud. She also mentioned that Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Founder President of Amity, constantly motivates students for focussing on research and innovation.

Mr. Manoj Kumar, (GM Project Management Office) Punjab & Sind Bank said that the hackathon serves as a bridge between the banking system and national priorities. He encouraged participants to develop technology that is reliable, user-friendly, and accessible even to individuals with limited technical knowledge.

Mr. Santosh Neeraj, (GM - Chief Information Security Officer), Punjab & Sind Bank, pointed out that over 90% of banking transactions are now conducted digitally, making it essential to develop secure and robust digital solutions.

Brig. R. K. Sharma, Director, Amity Institute of Training and Development shared that Amity University and Punjab & Sind Bank have a long-standing association. In 2023, Amity was designated as the training partner of the bank, and an agreement for this hackathon series was signed on March 11, 2026.

Dr. Sujata Pandey, Director, Amity Innovation and Design Center, stated that the Hackathon will provide students with valuable practical exposure.

During the session, the bank officials briefed participants about “RUPIB,” a cybersecurity and financial application developed under PSB Hackathon 2025, aimed at promoting safe digital banking practices. They emphasized that simple actions such as clicking on suspicious links or sharing OTPs can lead to significant financial losses.

During the Hackathon, participants will be encouraged to develop innovative applications capable of understanding users’ spending, saving, and investment patterns, offering financial improvement and budgeting suggestions, and incorporating advanced security features such as device checks, SIM binding, IMEI integration, and detection of OTP misuse.

Also present on the occasion was Dr. Manoj Pandey, Director, Amity School of Engineering and Technology.
