Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP), Noida Campus, in collaboration with the Indian Space Association (ISpA), is organizing India Space Week 2026 on the theme “Space Education and Research” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the Father of the Indian Space Programme. The national initiative aims to promote space education, scientific awareness, innovation, research, entrepreneurship and student engagement in emerging space technologies through academic and outreach activities.
As part of the programme, a workshop titled “From Earth to Space – Exploring Our Future Beyond Earth” was organized, for final-year students and scholars, featuring sessions on diverse aspects of space science and technology. Under the Workshop, a session on “Rocket Motor and Propulsion Systems” by Mr. Prakhar Jain, Founder and CEO, Synodic Space Education, was organized under the workshop. The session delved into the fundamentals of amateur rocketry and covered key areas including the basics of rocketry and rocket flight, principles of propulsion and thrust, major components of a rocket and their functions, rocket motors and propulsion systems, rocket design philosophy and key design considerations, among other aspects.
Among the other Sessions were “Rockets, Reusable Spacecraft, Space Tourism and Human Life in Microgravity” by Dr. V. R. Sanal Kumar, Professor, AIAE and Ex-Scientist, ISRO; “Next-Generation Space Systems: Convergence of AI, Digital Twins and Quantum Technologies” by Dr. Shivani Verma, Professor, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology ; and “Water Generation from Dehumidification of Air in Space Station” by Dr. Basant Singh Sikarwar, HoD, Mechanical Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology.
Welcoming the guests, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Director, Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering and Amity Institute of Defense Technology, said, “India’s growing space capabilities offer immense opportunities for our students to innovate, explore and contribute to the nation’s space ambitions. Such initiatives help nurture the next generation of space scientists and technologists.”
A Live Rocket Launch Demonstration was also held on the occasion, providing students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the principles and applications of rocketry. During the India Space Week-2026, an essay Writing Competition was also organized. In addition, “Space Science Exhibition” showcasing students’ projects, and a Panel Discussion on “Future of India's Space Sector”, will also be organized.
