A high-level delegation led by H.E. Babagana Umar Zulum ,Governor, Borno State, Nigeria, visits Amity University

 

A high-level delegation, led by H.E. Prof. Babagana Umra Zulm, Governor of Borno State, Nigeria, including Ms Regel John M – Head of Chancery (Officiating Ambassador), Mr. Alhaji Ahmed Sanda, Engr. Adam Bababe, Engr. Bawu Musami and Dr Hadiru Mustapha, visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus, with the aim to get familiarized with the world class infrastructure and facilities of the University, along with the initiatives taken by Amity Education Group in the field of research and innovation.  In addition, the visit was also aimed at exploring the possible areas of mutual interest for collaboration between Amity University and Universities of Borno. 

 

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, H.E. Prof. Babagana Umra Zulm, Governor of Borno State, Nigeria, averred, “Today Amity University is amongst the best institutions in the world, known for its high quality of education with a strong focus on research and innovation. Borno State is Nigeria's second largest state with a population of around 8 million which has many universities and educational institutions.?We are looking at a mutually beneficial, long-term relationship with Amity University, which is not merely based on the signing of the MoUs but a sustainable relationship which is outcome-based. This is just the beginning, and we have to continue to strengthen the relationship further, so that we can work together for the benefit of the society.” H.E. Prof. Babagana Umra Zulm, Governor of Borno State, Nigeria expressed a keen interest in the areas of Applied Sciences, Climate Resistant Crops, Solar Energy, Waste to Wealth, Security, particularly AI-based recognition of personnel, Engineering, Agriculture and allied subjects. 

 

Presenting the Research and Innovation initiatives undertaken by the Scientists of Amity, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, stated, "Today, as India chairs the G20 and celebrates 75 years of Independence, this visit holds greater significance.?India and Nigeria have shared close ties and India has always been the first choice for Nigerian students for education. Amity and Universities of Borno can further strengthen the ties by conducting joint research in the field of energy, especially solar energy, anti-terrorism, security, health security, primary health, online and distance education.At Amity, students are prepared to become accomplished and responsible global citizens who treat the entire world as one family, believing in the Indian spirit and philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Amity encourages its students to undertake research and entrepreneurship, so that they can lead the world on the path of scientific and economic development.”? 

 

Welcoming the guests and presenting key information and details about Amity Education Group, Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar, Deputy Director General, International Affairs Division, Amity University, said, “Through mutual cooperation between Amity and Borno State institutions, students will receive global exposure and expand their knowledge since such opportunities are extremely crucial for the growth of students and they must utilize these opportunities to the fullest.” He also provided detailed information on Amity Cross Border Education Program, to the guests on this occasion. 

 

During the visit, H.E. Prof. Babagana Umra Zulma, Governor of Borno State, Nigeria and his delegation took rounds of the high-tech laboratories of Amity, state-of-the-art Central Library, Amity School of Communication Studios, the Amity Innovation Incubator and also met the Nigerian students studying at Amity University.
