Taking Amity to the world and bringing the world to Amity

 A lecture on “Taking Amity to the world and bringing the world to Amity” was organized by Amity Law School, Noida as part of the International Lecture Series. Ms. Ana Maldonado Bautista, Embassy of Ecuador, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility inaugurated the lecture with Mr. Md. Al-Imran Khan, Senior Assistant Judge Bangladesh Judicial Service and Dr Kevin Argus, Faculty, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia as the guest speakers. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School Noida.  

 

Ms. Ana Maldonado Bautista, Embassy of Ecuador, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility stated that Amity Law School is the biggest law school in Asia and Amity University has immensely contributed to education in India. She added that relations between India and Ecuador are gaining strength, growing from last 15 years. She stated that trade, commerce, education and health are some of the areas where the partnership is becoming more important.  

Mr. Md. Al-Imran Khan, Senior Assistant Judge Bangladesh Judicial Service gave lecture on 'Judicial dissent and the protection of the constitutional rights of the citizens: The practice of the south Asian courts'. He stated that ordinarily in the court’s day to day decision making process, the majority's decision prevails and carries binding force. He further stressed that however, it doesn't mean that the minority decision is wrong, valueless or carries no meaning. He averred that a wise minority is an asset, has a great normative value and is a light for the future!    

Dr Kevin Argus, Faculty, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia spoke on 'Creating shared values: How to ensure social procurement policy in Australia delivers desired outcome'. He shared that social procurement organisations generate social value through procurement and how it transforms individuals, families and communities. He added that it further increases national health and well-being. He averred that this has acquired even more importance because Covid-19 highlighted inequalities of neo-classical economies i.e. market-driven economies including Australia, UK, US etc. He stressed that a caring design approach to creating shared value can enable all stakeholders to meet the desired outcomes of social procurement policy and Delivering equitable business, social, environmental and economic outcomes.
