“Travel writing, Blogging and Social Media Engagement”

Adding another successful feather in its ongoing student centric activities, Amity Institute of Travel & Tourism, Amity University Noida conducted 06 Days Professional Skill Development Course in virtual mode which themed at Travel Writing, Blogging and Social Media Engagement. The event witnessed a great success as more than one thousand participants from 80 universities and institutions. The workshop began on 11th June with an opening address by Mr. SanJeet, Founder and Managing Director DDP Group. Pressing upon the need of the youth in tourism industry, he emphasized upon the basic qualities required for a travel writer. He said, “ Tourism has become a necessity; people like to go to places. Travel writing is a vast subject. Travel journalism is a lot of responsibility.” The inaugural session was also addressed by International Independent food and Travel Writer and Photographer, Ms. Susheela Nair, who brought out the challenges for independent travel writer s and suggested ways to overcome these challenges. Hon?ble Vice Chancellor of Amity University Noida, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla blessed the participants and reiterated the vision of Hon?ble Founder President Sir to imbibe best skills in each and every student of Amity University. Welcoming the participants Dean FHT and Director Amity Institute of Travel & Tourism, Prof. (Dr.) M. Sajnani informed that the workshop is intended to train young tourism graduates of the country who must equip themselves with the art of presentation of their products in writings. For that, they must learn from the professionals and experts of the art in the field. It is the vision of our Hon?ble Prime Minister to make „Atmanirbhar Bharat „and train Indian youth who have immense capabilities of harnessing the benefits of Indian destinations through their writings. Amity University keeps on conducting such workshops to meet the challenging and changing demands of the industry. At this point of post pandemic time, when the whole country is looking to reopen its trade, particularly tourism sector, all future tourists want to read about the destinations they can visit. The young professionals of the tourism industry can demonstrate their art by travel writing in the form of magazine content, blogs and through social media. The workshop was also addressed by Dr. Savita Mehta, Vice President Communication, Amity Education Group who shared her experience as essentials of travel writing. The workshop was also addressed by Eminent speakers from travel industry like Mr. Inder Raj Ahulwalia, Mr. Puneet Saxena, Mr Anil Mathur, Ms. Samiksha Jain, Mr. Pardeep Singh, Mr. Sachin Manoccha and Mr. Raghav Khosla who shared their experience with the participants and guided them for making a successful career in travel journalism. The Chief Coordinator of the workshop Dr. Narendra Kumar welcomed the chief Guest of the Valedictory session, Ms. Kamal Gill, Executive Editor & Managing Director Today's Traveller and Gill India Group. Ms. Akansha Pandey, Founder and Editor, ProTourism News and former Senior Correspondent, Saffron Synergies Pvt. Ltd also shared her journey of becoming a travel journalist. She spoke at length about the challenges in the industry. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Suman Lata. The workshop ended with some of the feedback from the participants who displayed their work virtually and took the guidance.
