Amity University Uttar Pradesh signs MoU with Centre for Lands Warfare and Studies (CLAWS)

Amity University Uttar Pradesh signed an MoU with Centre for Lands Warfare and Studies to establish a long-term symbiotic relationship with Centre for Land Warfare and Studies (CLAWS), New Delhi in the areas of Defence and Strategic Studies, National Security and Defence Research Cooperation. The MoU was signed on a virtual platform towards starting a “Centre of Excellence” in the above-mentioned domains under the visionary leadership and cherished dream of the Education Icon, Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group and Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Vice President, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS).

Highlighting the importance of the MoU, Gen Ranbir Singh, PVSM, AVSM**, YSM, SM (Retd), Director, CLAWS, averred, “The Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), New Delhi, is an independent think tank on strategic studies and land warfare in the Indian context. The MoU will benefit the two premier institutions in multiple dimensions by enhancing the awareness levels of the military officers, students, researchers associated with PhD programmes and faculties on strategic matters related to contemporary defence and national security. Through this MoU, we aim to explore and tap into new opportunities for collaboration, where the minds of both institutions will work together. There will be an exchange of researchers, scholars who will brain-storm on strategic ideas and contribute towards the growth of both institutions. The MoU will serve as a benchmark by taking the professional pursuits of defence researchers to a new level and joint seminars will be conducted through which both organizations will benefit immensely as there will an exchange of strategic ideas, views and thoughts on relevant subjects.”

Welcoming the guests, Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), Director General, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS), said, “The establishment of a “Centre of Excellence” towards sustainable long-term Defence and Strategic Studies, Research and Innovation Partnership, at Amity University, with collective wisdom of CLAWS and AIDSS, will focus on new emerging areas in the domain of defence studies, paradigm in strategic and critical areas of national security and implications thereof.” Stressing upon the distinctive vision along with the ‘Core Values’ of Amity University, he further added that the MoU will mutually benefit the officers of the Indian Army, veterans, scholars and Amity students by providing them the opportunity to participate in seminars and global conferences focusing on the niche domains of defence oriented studies.

Thereafter the MoU Folders were exchanged between both the Institutions, and displayed by by Lt Gen (Dr) SK Gadeock, AVSM, (Retd) DG AIDSS and Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, PVSM, AVSM**, YSM, SM (Retd) Director CLAWS.

The Opening remarks were given by Col Dr Rajan Bakshi (Retd), Associate Professor, Amity Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (AIDSS). These deliberations were followed by the closing remarks and vote of thanks, wherein the commendable achievements by AIDSS were highlighted pertaining to scholastic excellence and de novo milestones attained through qualitative research & innovation. A notable mention was made of the unprecedented progression made under the dynamic and prescient leadership of Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President Amity Education Group.
