Christ Church University Bangalore lifts winner’s trophy during the 3rd Amity National Trial Advocacy Tournament-2024

 Amity Law School, Noida organized the 3rd Amity National Trial Advocacy Tournament-2024. Christ Church University Bangalore was declared the winner of the tournament while IIM Rohtak was declared the runner up. The award for the Best Research team went to IIM Rohtak and the award for Best Memorial Team was won by ILS Pune, while Christ Church University, Bangalore was declared the Best Counsel Team.

A total of 22 teams participated in the competition, with 8 teams qualifying for the quarter finals and four teams qualifying for the semi-finals. Out of the 4 teams, 2 teams qualified for the final round.The tournament aimed to accelerate growth and sharpen the skills of students who aspire to be future lawyers, attorneys, and judicial officers and brought together some of the most creative and astute young minds from different Universities including National Law Universities, Christ University, CLC University of Delhi, UPES Dehradun, Nirma University Gujarat, Amity University Gwalior, O.P. Jindal and many others.

Deliberating upon the attributes of a good lawyer, Chief Guest Justice Jyoti Singh, Judge Delhi High Court, said, “Those who have lost the competition must not get disheartened and keep working hard till they achieve success. Legal cases involve human lives so do not treat them as just “cases” but think carefully and sensitively since one wrong decision may lead to the misfortune of many lives. Quick thinking, articulation skills, and being goal oriented, is the mantra for becoming successful.”.

 

 

Addressing the students during the Valedictory Ceremony, Guest of Honour, Advocate Monica Arora, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, said, “Human beings think in terms of stories, not in terms of data or numbers. Therefore, lawyers must think in simple terms and put their thoughts in simple, relatable words.” She called upon the students to work hard, become good communicators, believe in themselves, improve themselves and constantly keep learning. She concluded her address by saying that your life should not only be successful but also meaningful.

 

Advising the law students, Hon’ble K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India, averred, “The current generation of lawyers has a lot of opportunities and avenues to seek. They can opt to work in the corporate sector, banks, become teachers or join any other organization. Indian courts are the best courts in the world, but the only problem is the large numbers of cases which are pending.” He advised the students to be courageous, sincere, hardworking and inculcate the habit of reading and writing.

 

 

Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, stated, “Winning or losing is not important but what you take home is important. Such competitions teach you teamwork, collaboration and make your base strong, which is very essential for becoming a successful lawyer.”

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Gargi Bhadoria, Assistant Professor, Amity Law School Noida and the Valedictory Ceremony was attended by the faculty and students of Amity Law School in large numbers.
