The 35th AIU National Youth Festival- ‘Amity UTSAV’, was inaugurated at University campus, Sector 125, Noida. This is the first time that Amity University is hosting the mega and prestigious AIU National Festival.
Thousands of students from over 90 Indian Universities have participated in the grandiose cultural affair and will be competing in different art and culture competitions such as One Act Play, Mimicry, Classical Dance, Cartooning, Instrumental (Western & Classic), Spot Photography, Quiz, Debate, Rangoli amongst others to win the prestigious National Winner’s Trophy. The participants have reached the National level after winning the competitions in their respective Zonal Finals.
The five day cultural extravaganza celebrates the cultural depth of Indian sand which aims to promote the exchange of culture, knowledge and talent in different states of our country.
Inaugurating the UTSAV, Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Hon’ble Secretary General, AIU commended the vision of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions for providing the best global education to students and she informed that Amity’s ability for perfection had been one of the important criteria for AIU to select Amity as the host of the mega fest. Dr. Mittal further apprised about the new initiatives of AIU including Khelo India University Games, National Youth Festivals, AIU National Moot Court Competition, AIU Women Youth Parliament etc. She expressed her hope that during the Amity UTSAV, the participants will perform their best and the fest will witness the vibrant culture and diversity of this Nation.
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that the biggest strength of our country is the youth, who will further develop the world to be a better place to live. He commented that every individual has a potential to be successful but success comes to those who work towards developing their skills and talent. Passion towards the goal and hard work are the key factors to achieve success. Dr. Chauhan called upon the youth to work towards nation building and advised them to have a mission in life for making a difference in life of others.
The cultural festivities commenced with a colorful procession, resembling the Republic Day Parade, wherein participants from different teams presented mesmerizing performances to introduce themselves and showcase the diverse culture of India, by representing the state’s ethnicity and promote the FIT India Movement.
The second day of Amity UTSAV witnessed a dynamic and soulful musical force with Classical Instrumental Music and Western Group Song competitions. 15 teams including Lovely Professional University, University of Kerala, Manipur University, Banaras Hindu University, Guru Nanak Dev University, University of Calicut, Indra Kala Music University, Bharti Vidyapeeth amongst others participated in the Classical Instrumental Solo (Percussion) in which each team (solo, duo or three people) played pieces by contrasting composers from the classical music repertoire and presented a timeless essence of rich variation of classical Indian music.
Sharing his experience, Ashish Narayan Mishra, Tabla Player and participant from Banaras Hindu University said that National Youth festival is an important platform for young artists like him as it provides them an excellent opportunity to invest time in the passion with simultaneous learning along the way, while showcasing their talent at National level. “Apart from the competition, there is a lot that we learn from one another.” he added
Western Group Song also had 15 participating teams including from Central university of Jharkand, Chandigarh University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Tezpur University, Shivaji University Kolhapur, Assam Royal Global University and more; who enthralled the audience with their melodious songs.
Vaishnavi Tiwari, participant from Kurukshetra University mentioned that it was her first time participating at such a big platform and found it to be an encouraging opportunity. She expressed her happiness over meeting with several talented folks from across the country.
Other competitions which were held during the day were Rangoli, Clay Modelling, On the Spot Painting, Western Instrumental (Solo), Western Vocal (Solo) and Mehendi.
The winners of the competitions will be announced during Valedictory Ceremony on Friday, 7th February 2020.
With a view to promote Youth Programmes of Art and Cultural Affairs and to augment sprit of national integration amongst the Youth, the Youth Affairs Division of AIU has been organizing the Inter-University Youth Festivals (UNIFESTS) annually since 1985. A large number of university youth from the nationwide universities participate in the UNIFESTS which play a significant role in promoting in our youth, a pride for Indian culture and an awareness of national identity.
