Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, campus is hosting the International Annual Conference of the Clinical Psychology Society of India (CPSICON 2025), on the theme- “Integrating Diversity in Comprehensive Clinical Psychology Practice: Perspective and Challenges”, from 6th to 8th November 2025. More than 500 delegates, including academicians, clinicians, researchers, and students from across the world have participated in CPSICON 2025, making it one of the largest gatherings of clinical psychology professionals in the country.

Inaugurating the Conference, Chief Guest, Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services, averred, “There is a huge demand for Clinical Psychologists today since the percentage of mental health disorders has increased. There is also a lack of awareness regarding mental health problems and shortage of mental health professionals. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a robust mental health ecosystem which can address the challenges and bridge the gap. In addition, innovation and technology can significantly increase human efficiency and find solutions to mental health issues. Online therapies, digital tools, applications and a blend of traditional and modern techniques can provide meaningful solutions. A shift from reactive to a proactive approach is required and the importance of interdisciplinary approach and research cannot be overlooked. Moreover, mentoring and counselling mental health professionals is extremely crucial. Mental health awareness in schools and colleges is essential and encouraging physical fitness can reduce the problem and help in combatting mental health disorders.”

Highlighting the significance of the Conference, Prof. (Dr.) Jamuna Rajeshwaran, President, Clinical Psychology Society of India (CPSI), stated, “The theme of the Conference is timely and deeply relevant in today's rapidly changing social, cultural, and professional landscape. As clinical psychologists, we are entrusted with understanding and supporting individuals from a wide array of backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences which profoundly shape the way people experience mental health and healing. Our task, therefore, extends beyond clinical assessment and intervention; it requires a sensitive and inclusive approach that credits the uniqueness of every individual. The conference will provide an excellent platform for dialogue, collaboration, and reflection on how we can strengthen our clinical frameworks to be more inclusive, equitable, and evidence-informed. The major challenges in the field of Clinical Psychology are lack of training and capacity building, instruments and evidence gap, resource constraints, lack of mental health facilities and language and communication barriers. To address these challenges, it is proposed that curriculum reforms and capacity-building must be undertaken, research investment must be increased, and relevant tools must be introduced, along with interdisciplinary and community partnership, supervision, mentoring and feedback.” She called upon the researchers to bring forth their courage and humility, engage and seek collaboration, thereby serving as ambassadors of mental health.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Clinical Psychologists are in great demand specially post the pandemic. People are going through a lot of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, etc., therefore, mental health needs to be paid more attention and patients must be treated with utmost care and compassion.”

Welcoming the guests, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpana Srivastava Director, Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences (AIBHAS), said, “The Conference reaffirms Amity’s commitment to advancing global mental health through diversity, evidence-based practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The conference will serve as a vibrant platform for psychologists, clinicians, researchers, and students to explore inclusivity, innovation, and cultural diversity in mental health practice, thereby providing a dynamic platform for learning, reflection and collaboration.”
