Senior Officials from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) interact with the students and faculty of Amity, to explore opportunities in Nuclear Science & Technology

Amity officials along with Senior Leaders from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

 Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida campus hosted a high-level visit and outreach program by Senior Officers from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The aim of the visit was to inform the students about the frontline research and development work carried out in Department of Atomic Energy and highlight career opportunities for Engineering and Science Graduates through BARC Training Schools.

 

Providing detailed information about Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Shri Yuva Raj Nitin, Scientific Officer – F, BARC, averred, “BARC conducts research and development in various areas, including Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Energy, Materials Science, Radiation Biology and Health Physics, Isotope Production and Applications, Nuclear Electronics and Instrumentation. Industry-academia partnership is extremely crucial to foster research and innovation, and we would be glad to provide internship opportunities to the students which will help them in their career progression.”

 

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh said, “BARC is a highly reputed organization and the pioneer in the field of atomic energy. Amity Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology was established with an aim to provide the best opportunities to the students in the field of Nuclear Science and make them industry-ready. We would like to provide internship and apprenticeship opportunities to our students, which will develop their skills and enhance their practical knowledge. The government is also opening up the Nuclear Sector to private players, which reaffirms the government’s priority to this sector. Students will be benefitted by the talks delivered by senior BARC scientists and engineers, and they must make the most of this opportunity.”

 

Shri Nishant Mishra, Scientific Officer – F, BARC stated, “We are extremely delighted to be present at Amity today and interact with the students since they are the future leaders and they must contribute to nation-building through research and innovation. Nuclear Science is being used in many important areas such as medicine, energy, industry, agriculture and environment. Therefore, students of science, engineering and technology domains must have good knowledge about this field, and work on breakthrough innovations for societal benefit.”

 

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Anjani Kumar Bhatnagar, Additional Director & Head, Amity Technical Placement Centre (ATPC), said, “The visit reinforces the structured, continuous effort in the collaboration between BARC and Amity University, vital for addressing India's critical requirement for competent professionals in nuclear and radiation safety, thereby actively supporting national goals in energy, healthcare, industry and research.”

 

During the visit, discussions between BARC representatives and the HOIs and Deans of Amity University's Science, Engineering and Technology domains, were held, fostering exchange of ideas between Amity University and BARC. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sunita Rattan, Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology, Dr. Alpana Goel, Director- Amity Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology, and Dr. M. K. Pandey, Director- Amity School of Engineering and Technology, amongst others.
