“Innovation is the key to transformation”, say experts during International Conference on Fashion, Apparel & Textiles 25, at Amity

Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh Noida campus organized an International Conference on Fashion, Apparel & Textiles 25, on the theme “Transforming Fashion and Textiles: New Age Innovations and Opportunities.” 

 

Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Technology and Amity School of Fine Arts, said, “Fashion industry must embrace innovation, merging artistry with a sense of responsibility towards people and the planet, thereby making it sustainable. The industry is evolving as new technologies are being used to create fabrics and textiles, however, the focus should always be on eco-friendly practices.”

 

Advising the students, Mr. Devangshu Dutta, Founder, Third Eyesight & Co-Founder, PVC Partners, opined, “Students must dwell upon how they can shape themselves, enhance their skills and what role they can play to change the industry. Due to the advent of emerging technologies, it is a new world which did not exist before, therefore, students must create their own identity, think innovatively and not depend upon old ideas.”

 

Emphasizing upon the role of startups in ViksitBharat@2047, Prof (Dr) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor AUUP, stated, “Students must focus on becoming entrepreneurs since startups will be a major contributor to the goal of ViksitBharat@2047. Students must face challenges with resilience, courage and find creative solutions so that they can overcome all challenges and expand their horizon.”

 

Mr Roshan Baid, Managing Director, Paragon Apparel Pvt Ltd, advised the students to integrate technical knowledge with creativity. The young generation is already tech-savvy, however, they must use technology to create new innovations in fashion and design.” He called upon the students to reinvent themselves and create their own path in life.

 

Highlighting the significance of the conference, Prof. (Dr) Pradeep Joshi, Group Additional Pro Vice Chancellor, AUUP, said, “The conference aims to signify the role of innovation in the fashion and apparel industry, which is a key to transforming the fashion landscape of the country.”

 

Ms. Kamal Kapoor, Owner, Achievers Consulting, said, “The new age innovations and opportunities are transforming the fashion and textile industry. In this new era, robots are performing knee surgery, drones are fighting wars, and technology is shaping global growth. The five forces which are reshaping the industry are digital product creation, virtual experiences, bio-based recycled and next-gen materials, generative AI and sustainability. However, the future will not be automated, but co-created, which means that it will be created by both humans and technology.”

 

During the Conference, participants from various renowned institutions such as Graphic Era Hill University Dehradun, Khalsa College for Women Amritsar, Punjab University, Jagannath University Haryana, Banasthali Vidyapeeth Rajasthan, NIFT Chennai, NIFT Kolkata, and many others, presented their research papers. In addition, Technical Sessions on “Sustainable Practices for Fashion and Textiles”, “Digitalization in Fashion and Textiles” and “Innovations in Traditional Crafts and Textiles”, were also organized.
